If you can’t commit to a whole day at the beach, the NYC Parks system has you covered with outdoor pools all over the city. Outdoor pools are open from 11 am to 7 pm with a break for cleaning between 3 and 4.
If you’re in Bushwick, the Bushwick Playground houses the Bushwick Pool. It’s at the intersection of Humboldt Street and Flushing and Bushwick Avenues.
For Fort Greene and Clinton Hill adjacent residents, check out the Commodore Barry Pool at 12 North Elliot Place.
The Atlantic terminal area is full of hustle and bustle, but the city still managed to fit in a pool at the Thomas Greene Playground at 519 DeGraw Street.
If you’re further out in the eastern parts of Crown Heights or Bushwick, the Howard Playground Pool might be the spot for you. It’s at 1552 East New York Avenue.
For most residencies in Bed Stuy, the Kosciuszko Pool will be your best bet. It has an Olympic Pool and a wading pool, all located on Marcy Avenue between DeKalb and Kosciuszko.
Up in Greenpoint, the McCarren Park Pool is another Olympic size summer favorite. It’s located, you guessed it, in McCarren Park.
Heading back to South Brooklyn, two more Olympic pools round out the Brooklyn geography. One in Red Hook, at Bay and Henry Streets, and one in Sunset Park on Seventh between 41st and 44th.
For all pools, make sure to bring a padlock as you have to lock your extra possessions in the free lockers for entrance. None of the pools allow food or glass bottles. Enjoy your swim!
